Indulge in the unique Dutch dining experience during your stay, known as "Dutch Service" for good reason:) However, hunger won't be an issue in our neighborhood, where delightful coffee, food, and snacks await at every turn. That's why we're proud to be a bnb, a b&b that doesn't serve breakfast—our neighbors offer even better options to start your day right!
The Dutch nowadays skip breakfast for a coffee or cappuccino (3 for me;) and then lunch with a cheese sandwich. However, we become more and more picky and here are the best options in our street & around the corner:
Extensive: Vlaams Broodhuys is your best option on Elandsgracht 122. At Berenstraat 38 (very closeby in the charming 9 streets) there is a pancake place that is delicious but very small. Have a look whether they can host you. Alternatively there is Pancake Bakery on Prinsengracht 191 on your way to the Noordermarkt*.
Quick: Zuivelhoeve (next door, Elandsgracht 27) is the specialized cheeseshop for a lovely cheese sandwich and the cheese tastery for your evening in your little private garden. We call them the cheese jewelry as it has the best cheeses.
Cheap: To balance your budget you can get sandwiches and salads at the Albert Heijn or Ecomarkt in the Elandsgracht and have a picnic along the canals or in the Vondelpark. If you plan to go to the Rijksmuseum, visit its gardens, they are larger and more interesting than they look behind the fence, they are free accessible and you can bring your own drinks.
There are so many options in Amsterdam, let's focus on the closeby places you will love:
Classic Dutch: The classic close by: 't Zwaantje (since '73) plus the one for mothers: Moeders but lots of people visiting Amsterdam love it. Consider also The Pantry or go super-de-luxe at the "culinairy food museum" De Vijff Vliegen as the chique (more expensive) option.
Stylish & elegant: Baltazars Keuken is the favorite, but do reserve in advance. Right on the corner of our block is Ela Restobar with day and night fantastic cocktails, oysters, hamachi and steak tartare for the beautiful people a delicious setting for the better conversations. Around the corner there is winebar Parry with a lovely menu of snacks. We love Rakang, the Thai restaurant next door.
Vegetarian or vegan: On 100 meter you will find Men Impossible, an impressive ramen place but you will discover the impossibleness when you try to reserve, worth the hassle. Most restaurants have vegetarian and/or vegan options.
Streetfood: Either a croquet - Dutch delicacy or one of the many other options- at all time local favorite snackbar Stoot-je-Hoofd- niet - Elandsgracht 63, no website what is also refreshing for a street food place. In the Kinkerstraat there are many street food options like The Hallen. Or the master in hamburgers (also vegan and vegetarian!) on Elandsgracht 130 Burgermeester. Also no website. Additional, stroll the canals while eating your Wok-to-Walk from the Leidsestraat 96.
